Awarded Projects
I have submitted design work to various competitions over the years and have earned awards with the designs below.
Silver CUPPIE Award 2024
Muhlenberg Magazine Fall 2023 Cover
This cover was to the Fall 2023 Muhlenberg Magazine issue, celebrating the 75th birthday of the college’s radio station WMUH. The radio station works with artist and community DJ Steve Wilt on various illustrations for WMUH merchandise. For apparel a version of this radio tower illustration was created. Manipulating this illustration and adding a speckled noise like background provided a feeling of static while the lightning bolts provided a graphic representation of the radio waves.

Muhlenberg Magazine Spring 2023 Cover
This cover was to the Spring 2023 Muhlenberg Magazine issue that is additionally sent to admitted students. This issue had a feature on the college’s study abroad program with testimonials and photography from students and where they studied. The photo here was submitted by a student who took the photo of his flatmate posing in the doorway of a historical abandoned church in Donegal Ireland. The photo places the viewer looking out to a new landscape, creating a “door of opportunity” and illustrating the opportunities studying abroad can provide.
Silver CUPPIE Award 2019
Penn State Berks MacBeth Theatre Poster
This poster was created for one of the college’s theatre productions. Their version of MacBeth was going to feature the witches like birds with feathered scarves and masks. I used that imagery to represent how the witches “help” MacBeth to achieve his goals but it all falls a part in the end.
Bronze CUPPIE Award 2018
Penn State Berks Blue & White Magazine Cover
With this magazine, the feature story was the college hosting a large event called the First Lego League Competition. I gathered legos and gridded out the college’s logo image to create with the pieces. Once the image was put together by hand, it was photographed and used to create the cover image.
Student Gold ADDY Award 2013
Baby Doll Theatre Poster
This was an undergraduate project in which we were to create a design for a Tennessee Williams play. Baby Doll is the story of a young woman who has a grade schooler’s mentality and is living with lewd older man. This man peeps on her through a hole in the wall as she dresses. I took that idea and created a hole in the wall that also resembles the female sex to create an uncomfortable experience much like is featured in the play itself. The image was hand drawn before being digitally edited to create the final piece.
